A barn conversion is the development or adaptation of a farm building into an alternative use for the space that is suitable for commercial or residential use.

The overall cost of your barn conversion will depend on many different factors such as the size and scope of the project as a whole. To get a much more accurate idea of cost contact us for a discussion and quote.

Most barn conversions fall into Class Q category of permitted development rights (PDR) which means that a barn conversion doesn’t need full planning consent. You will need a prior approval application to ensure that it is legal, but we can take care of all the paperwork for you as part of the project.

Often you can connect your barn conversion to mains utilities, but sometimes other options are needed depending on your location and situation. We can advise you further when we come to survey your site as part of the planning and design stage.

You are restricted with a barn conversion to the original, existing footprint of the barn. However if you wanted to add a garage or a small extension that links the existing barn to other outbuildings they may be allowed if designed sympathetically. If planning this type of extension, you would have to submit a full planning permission application. Southern Cross Projects will take the headache out of the paperwork and discuss all planning issues during the design phase.
